Why does Mike Babcock like Roman Polak?

At this good Leafs blog, we try our best to come up with content that you can recommend to your friends on other blogs.  The caveat is that when we say "try" we mean "forget" and when we say "best" we mean blog.  So we forget our blog.  There! I admitted it.  It feels so good!

Anyways.  This is a good blog, Bront.  We know that you want to recommend it to your friends.  So we have done some reasearch and have come up with an answer to the age-old question: Why, exactly does Mike Babcock like Roman Polak so much?

A disclaimer: we don't actually know if he "likes" him, personally.  Nobody except Mike Babcock knows this for sure.  However, we we do know that he plays him a lot.  So when we say "like", we mean as a hockey player, only.  Head on over the jump for our in-depth analysis.

So, after watching parts of several games in which Polak was playing for the Leafs, and watching/reading things that Mr. Coach Babcock has said about the man his friends call Roman, we have determined that Mike Babcock likes Mr. Polak because he has reasons to believe he is somewhat of an effective defender.  Specifically, Babcock must have the opinion that Polak is, at least, a better option than the other options that are available to him at this time.  It's that simple!

Seriously.  We are very confused by the confusion over why Polak keeps getting put in the lineup.  It's because Babcock has some reason to think he's better than the other guys!  We don't know what that reason is, but we are just a good Leafs blog.  Not a coach of a hockey team.  That just isn't our job.

There you have it.  Mystery solved.  Tonight's game is "in Columbus", if you know what I mean.  If you want to check for starting lineups and a game preview later today, you are in luck.  I'd say that at around noon, just go to google and search "Maple Leafs vs. Blue Jackets game preview and lineups" and something decent should pop-up!
